The Progressive Left has opened up a new front n the war on guns, now they are going after ammunition. In a bold move some have called constitutionally dubious, Florida legislators wants anyone trying to buy ammunition to complete an anger management program first. The bill filed Saturday by state Sen. Audrey Gibson (D-Jacksonville), would require a three-day waiting period for the sale of any firearm and the sale of ammunition to anyone who has not completed anger management courses. The proposal would require ammo buyers to take the anger management courses every 10 years.
Senator Gibson believes that people “really don’t need all that ammo they are buying.” She’s concerned with American citizens stockpiling ammunition, potentially creating dangerous situations should those individuals ever come in contact with law enforcement agencies or criminals. “It’s about getting people to think, really, about how much ammunition they need to hunt.”
Some close to Senator Gibson believe this is the first of “many new bills to come” focused on gun control. “If we can legislate the number of bullets in a clip, then we can limit the amount of ammo in their homes” stated a Floridians close to this situation. Gibson’s bill does not offer a threshold for the amount of ammunition needed to necessitate the need for anger management courses or how much should be allowed in a home.
This is an interesting strategy that, while it might fail in Florida, will most likely be picked up on the national war on guns front. While the second amendment clearly states that “…right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed,” it does not explicitly say that ammo can not be controlled. Expect more to come.
